A Bridge Too…Something
Based on more than one true story

The bridge between us arches
over the deep ravine
they named Unrequited.
No pines or larches
just the remains of the uninvited.
I watch as you cross the arch
your eyes fixed behind me
I almost turned to look.
You movement a deliberate march
I foolishly bit the hook.
Too late I realize
this junction’s not for me.
He showed up out of thin air.
Didn’t hear your hidden sighs
that said I’m going nowhere.
I whirled around to meet his gaze
Or should I say his smirk?
You pushed me over the side.
As I fell into abyssal haze
You’re both unclothed, and him inside.
